In my opinion our creator put facial hair on a man for a number of reasons
warmth in cold climates
recognition
Individuality and others
Only when Gillette invented the "Safety Razor"(the first dbl edge type) in the early 1920' did America in particular fall in LOVE with the Smooooth look on a Man's face,Hollywood Movies made it "Proper" for every Man to shave his face clean(The "Bogart Look"). Soon, every man in America looked just like the man standing next to him,and Gillette earned BILLIONS of dollars overnight from selling the new American Male Look.
personally..I think a man's Beard is his "Signature" Iv'e had mine since I was 17 yrs old.
Do you think "A Beard Makes A Man"? or should we all look like "Microsoft Clones"?

Re: Beards make a Man a "Man".
Mon, February 5, 2007 - 10:08 PMHi Jake
I too have always wondered why merica is so obsessed with the preadolescent look.
I always assumed that men want their women to look like little girls for superiourity reasons. dominance and that sort of thing.
I've been told about polls that show people are a little more skittish around men with beards but I get nervous around shaved men in suits. Like Mikey Moore says, ''They won't rob you just once''
I haven't seen my face since Kent State, never wanted to be mistaken for a soldier or a suit.
